Max Faulkner claimed his only Major Championship with a two-shot victory during a wet weekend in County Antrim. Home favourite Fred Daly finished in a tie for fourth. The flamboyant Faulkner, often dressed in brightly-coloured clothing, found the Dunluce Course to his liking having been twice a runner-up in the Irish Open at the same venue. The Course Royal Portrush is one of the best and most challenging links golf courses in the world. In the five years between 1995 & 1999 and also in 2004, Royal Portrush hosted The Senior Open. Then in 2012, Royal Portrush very successfully hosted the Irish Open, won by Jamie Donaldson. This was the first time that a European Tour event had been played in Northern Ireland and the first time since 1953 that the Irish Open had been played in Northern Ireland.Magnificent Views Situated on the beautiful Causeway coast, Royal Portrush Golf Club occupies a triangle of giant sandhills which present magnificent views in all directions. The course is overlooked by the ruins of 13th century Dunluce Castle and this gives its name to Royal Portrush's famous Dunluce course.Find Out More For any queries please contact The R&A via their contact form - http://www.theopen.com/Legal/Contact-Us
