Bushmills Food Tour

This food tour takes around Bushmills, learning how forward thinking and innovative the people of this village were and how much good food is now on offer. At Cooper’s Deli, Fiona explains her links to the Bushmills Distillery and her commitment to ‘local’ while we eat soda bread and goat bacon washed down with one of the best cups of tea I’ve ever tasted.Up to Glasses Fruit and Veg shop - a cornucopia of the freshest, tastiest fruit and veg in Ireland! Mandy is quite rightly extraordinarily proud of her shop and all her family have achieved. You’ll be inspired. After the Salmon Research Station and hearing about smolts, parr and fry, you’ll sample some of North Coast Smokehouse’s truly delicious hot roasted, smoked salmon - truly scrumptious. Now we need a glass of something to wash it down, right? Luckily we’re only a wee dander (small walk) from the world famous Bushmills Distillery. They have agreed to let you have a glass of the 12 year old whiskey - only available on site. You might be persuaded to buy a whole bottle. On to Tartine at the Distillers Arms - an enchanting restaurant where Gary serves a seasonal plate of lusciousness - we have to trust him as to what is just perfect that day. Go chef.No food tour on the Causeway Coastal Route would be complete without a poke of chips! (A little mouthful of chips that is). The award winning Hip Chip provides this and Geoffrey talks to us about potatoes and community.A few steps away, there’s a butcher’s shop selling honey and whiskey sausages - again, a purchase might be in order?A cup of coffee is needed at this point, and perhaps something sweet? Aha The French Rooms are open and Stella and Roy waiting to give us just that. We get there through their deli which showcases so many local food heroes from jams and chutneys to salt and dulse (sea weed). We finish in the Bushmills Inn, where I leave you to digest your food tour in comfort and elegance, in front of a real turf fire. Just perfect. Please meet outside Bushmills Visitor Information Centre, BT57 8QA.Visit website for touring dates.

Away A Wee Walk - Dunseverick Harbour
Tuesday 4th of July - Tuesday 11th of July

“Quite simply, one of the best days of my life” review by Lyn Dodillet from New York on Facebook June 2017.Guided 6 mile cliff path walk. Advance booking by 20:00 the night before required. You will be met at Dunseverick Harbour by our local walking guide. The walk is a spectacularly scenic, cliff path walk to the UNESCO world heritage site of the giant’s causeway The geology, giant and landscape stories are all best enjoyed and experienced by walking the entire coastline rather than simply visiting the main site. The cliffs are much less known and are therefore uncrowded. The views along the path are comfortably among the best cliff views in Europe. Most of the path is grass (which can be prone to being muddy in winter, early spring and if it has been very wet in the summer), or gravel. The path undulates but is not particularly strenuous for those of average fitness or above. There are stone steps, wooden stiles and 'kissing' gates along the path. The tour is perfectly designed for the visitor to take plenty of photographs. Toward the end of the walk the tour descends the cliffs to sea level via the Shepherd’s Steps. There is sufficient time to enjoy climbing around the fascinating 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns before walking to the visitor centre whereby it is possible to return to Dunseverick car park by rambler bus or local taxi. Alternatively you are free to enjoy unlimited time on the stones before making your own way back to your car. Please bring a snack, water, a waterproof coat, good walking shoes or boots. Dress in layers and avoid denim.

Children's Summer Street Theatre - Sideboard Show
Friday 14th of July - Friday 14th of July

Superbly silly, stunningly surreal & seriously stupid. Teetering on the edge of danger while tottering towards the wrong side of sanity, this duo will quite literally invite you into their living room for a glimpse of the world as they see it. A blend of awesome skills including acrobatics, juggling and fire this high energy show is full of fun, laughter and unpredictability.
